On an overcast June 5th 2010 day, three DM&E EMD's pull a mixed freight eastbound along the rural Minnesota countryside. Since Canadian Pacific purchased the DM&E, scene's like this are impossible to catch today since CP locomotives are usually mixed in the locomotive consist.
The DM&E runs on Ex-C&NW lines that were shed by UP that purchased the C&NW. One of the trademarks of the old C&NW is the pink ballast they used nicknamed "Pink Lady" ballast which is easy to see on this cloudy day.
The DM&E ran used EMD power for their locomotive roster that have a variety of heritage. Here is what these three EMD's use to be:
DM&E 6052 "City of Crawford" Ex-Union Pacific SD40 3092
DM&E 6360 "City of Mankato" Ex-Milwaukee Road SD40-2 196
DM&E 6370 "City of Arlington" Ex-Milwaukee Road SD40-2 209
