Northern Plains Railroad GP9 1761 by DDL-Photography Northern Plains Railroad GP9 1761 by DDL-Photography

NPR 1761 rounds the bend by the Canadian Pacific locomotive shop in St. Paul, MN. She's dead in tow and was located almost halfway in this CP manifest train being hauled somewhere. 1761 was built in January 1954 as Union Pacific GP9 224. After her retirement on UP, 224 went to the San Joaquin Valley RR and had the high forward hood lowered, repainted and renumbered to 1761, then off to the Lake County Railroad, to Western Rails INC and then sold to the NPR. It will be interesting to see where this well traveled GP9 will end up next.
